[ Age ] 16 mentally, 13 physically [ Birthdate ] November 3rd [ History ] Alphonse, known better to most as Al, is a talented alchemist from the small country town of Resembool, youngest son to the infamous Hohenheim of Light, and little brother to the Fullmetal Alchemist, Edward Elric. After the death of their mother, he and his older brother studied alchemy in order to bring her back through human transmutation, a highly dangerous and strictly forbidden act of alchemy. Given they had underestimated the value of a human life, Ed’s lower leg was taken as a part of the equivalent exchange, and Al was taken entirely. After seeing Truth within the Gate, Ed was able to sacrifice his arm in exchange for Al’s soul, which he attached to a nearby suit of armour to save his life. As a result, he spent four years within aforementioned armour, his body waiting in the Gate to be reunited with his soul, malnourished and not aging during that time. On first being reunited with his body again, Al was ten years old again, and couldn’t recall anything past his and Ed’s attempt to bring back their mother. Since then he has yet to recall that time, and accept that his mind and soul are four years older than his physical body, which was left a little undersized from the years spent within the Gate. The first thing on his mind was to search for his beloved brother, and when he was strong enough to, spent the majority of his time looking for any trace of him. [ Pets ] Al owns an overweight blond haired cat he calls Ed-Kitty, because it is very similar to his older brother. [ Other ? ] Al doesn't use weapons, he relies on his fists and his alchemy for protection. He's a little less skilled in alchemy than his brother is, but he tends to be better at physical fighting, with the automail advantage aside. He can also use alchemy without needing a transmutation circle; he had a near death experience that bought back his memories of seeing the Gate, and thus, the Truth within. Al's unique in the way that he can detach parts of his soul and link them to inanimate objects. Since his soul was once ripped from his body, it's a little easier to remove than most people's. There's no limit on just how much he can control at one time, it doesn't seem to take much from him at all to control a number of objects at once, if he's in close proximity to them. But over long distances, he's limited to only using one object, and whilst he controls it, he appears to be asleep, or unconscious. There's a time limit to how long a part of his soul can remain in the object, depending on how far away it is from his body. His choice of object is usually suits of armour, he has better control over them as they resemble a human figure. Al can see and hear through the inanimate objects if he is only controlling the one of them. |
